The Canada Federation Candidate is qualified and will deliver on his health objectives for Canada because:
Mr. Chamas has over 25 years of experience Health related projects (Hospitals and Hospital ships) & their financial management focused on innovation and technology advancement to improve healthcare delivery.
Mr. Chamas will implement reform policies, guided by successful foreign health care models, that will ensure free and responsive healthcare to all Canadians.
Mr. Chamas will utilize his global alliances to improve medical equipment & PPE, procedures and protocols, and availability of testing.
In this pandemic world-view, Health is the singular issue that everyone has a vested interest in and spans every generation. How do we meet the demands that grow every year on our health system while remaining fiscally responsible and able to sustain our citizen’s needs? Especially affecting us from care, isolation, lock-down, ICU, health-care providers and protocols. We face a myriad of challenges that have led to so many mixed messages for personal and community protection models, vaccines and efficacy. We look to our leaders for answers, but we are left with more questions than answers.
We must focus on the persistently changing environment. We are a global community, literally a ‘bug’ that is affecting people in Dubai, in a matter of hours, can become an epidemic affecting hundreds of people on a flight that lands in Toronto. Those hundreds of people in turn can infect thousands in a matter of hours. How do we meet these trans-global challenges on top of the already maxed out system? These are the types of questions that Canada Federation will not only ask, but utilize their global partners to find solid solutions.
There are solutions out there that need to be explored and adapted for use in our Canadian society. As an example, the Netherlands had one major flood in 1953 that killed several thousand people. They studied the problem and the changing weather issues that the North Sea was bringing and found solutions that fixed the problems that lead to that one catastrophe. They have continued to work on the warming climate issues that continue to threaten flooding to their nation which is 50% below sea level. They call it protection, prevention, and preparedness. Their paradigm shift came 10 years ago, developed the concept of “room for the rivers”.
The World Bank estimates that investing a dollar in flood protection saves $7 to $10 in flood damage. The Canada Federation is interested in the same approach in all aspects of health: protection, prevention and preparedness.
How prepared was the Ottawa/Gatineau area when tornadoes struck, taking out power and buildings; leaving citizens without a clear plan of how to deal with no-notice emergency. Some have said that the destruction was actually worse than the disaster of the 1998 ice-storm. We seem not to learn to prepare our citizens or communities with proper and coordinated planning.
Mr. Chamas has in the past, led investments in hospitals and hospital ships with global partners. These experiences included development of medical facilities in Beijing, China, as the development group was an advocate for new technological advances in research and development. Funded development of a test for HIV/AIDS that would assist medical professionals with speed and accuracy in obtaining results for the testing process that would allow the treatment to commence for patients. Further a project in China was sponsored by his development group for heart valve replacement technology.
The Canada Federation will adopt the same approach of investment in technology advances that will positively affect every Canadian citizen.
